Welcome to our website and thank you for taking an interest in our knives. Jones Knives is a partnership of identical twin brothers, Barry and Phillip Jones. We started making knives in early 1987. We started out making knives without having any knowledge of how to go about it. However, both of us had a strong desire to make knives. Most of what we know about making knives we learned by trial and error. At first it was more error than trial. The rest of what we know was learned from reading various books and magazines. Of course, there are also the countless number of tips and tricks we picked up from other makers.

Being identical twins has its advantages when it comes to making knives. While we are very similar, we are also very different. Barry seems to have acquired more mechanical aptitude. Phillip has a more artistic way of looking at things. When the two of us team up on a knife design, or any other project, the outcome can be remarkable.

In 1994 we decided to specialize in making combat, fighting, and self defense style knives. Although we specialize in "Tactical" cutlery, we enjoy making knives of all styles. We have made many types of knives, from miniatures to swords. We even encourage customers to submit their own designs. This allows the customer to get a "personalized" knife.

In 1992, While attending our first knife show, we met several other knifemakers who had formed the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild. We joined the NCCKG in the summer of 1993. The talented makers in the Guild have generously shared their skills with us ever since.
