                     Arthur’s Button-Lock Folder (Pat.Pend.)

This type of folder is very solid and easy to handle and requires hardly any maintenance, and thanks to its smooth-going pushbutton, nobody will break their fingernails when opening or closing it. It is easy to manage for lefthanders, too, however, a special left-hander’s version can be ordered if required.

How To Work Them:  My Button-Locks will lock both open and closed. The release button is on the front of the handle, usually on the bolster. In order to open your folder, push the button, and the blade will then jut out just a little (by about half an inch), so that you can grab it and open it completely. (You have to remove the safety before opening it.) In order to close your folder, you push the button again and then push the blade back into the handle until it locks.  The blade safety  is there to prevent the blade from opening in your pocket, should the button receive pressure inadvertently. My folders also feature an adjustment screw for the blade.

Maintenance: All this folder needs occasionally is a tiny drop of non-acid oil (preferably WD 40) into the handle at pivot level (top of the blade). If your folder gets dirty, you can wipe it clean with a moist cloth and then dry it. If it gets VERY dirty, you can rinse it shortly in cold water, but afterwards I recommend that you cover it with a very thin layer of protective antique wax, blade and all.  (A non-fancy button-lock folder can be used for any normal cutting chores, and you will find that it performs well. If you treat it well and use it reasonably it will give you full satisfaction all your life.

Guarantee: There is a life-time guarantee for defects in materials, with the exception of natural handle materials such as wood, horn or ivory, etc., which tend to react to climatic changes and age. Any mechanical defects are guaranteed life-long and will be repaired by myself, should they occur. However, I absolutely decline all responsibility in case of any attempts by a Third Party to repair my folders or to interfere with their construction. I cannot accept liability for loss or for damage occurring due to inappropriate treatment or wilful destruction.
