Arno Bernard Knifemaker

I'd like to introduce to you Arno Bernard from South Africa. He has been a member of the Southern Africa Knifemakers' Guild since 1994.  I met him at the Las Vegas show in 2001, and was very impressed with his work. All of his knives are hollow ground with a fine hand stroked finish, and a tapered tang. Each knife comes with a beautiful handmade sheath, most are hand sewn cowhide, but some are Cape Buffalo from the Dark Continent. He mainly uses Sandvic 12C27, and Damascus from various makers.

Arno started out in 1977, using the steel from a saw blade for the first few knives. In 1992 he became serious about knife making and looked forward to becoming a full time maker. He's come a very long way since then, and went full time in 1996. I'm very impressed with his grinding skill, and his hand rubbed finish on his blades is great. He prefers to use natural handle material such as Mammoth Ivory, Mother of Pearl, stabilized Giraffe bone, and Warthog tusk.

Last but not least is the difference of the conversion of U.S. Dollars to the South African Rand. The exchange rate is highly favorable to U.S. buyers. Due to the expense of travel from South Africa, Arno only attends 5 to 6 shows in America. Here is your chance to purchase a high quality knife at a very good price.

Sincerely,

A.T. Barr
