"Many Knives by Many Makers"
A. C. "Tony" Metsala
A couple of months ago, one of my clients sent me one of Tony's fine folders to sell. So I
photographed it and sent out an Advance Notice mailing. It sold in the first 30 minutes. Several of the people on my mailing list did a Google and contacted Tony, and I'm pleased to say he took several orders from them. Tony called me a few days later and talked about me carrying his fine knives. Since it was so close to the Blade Show, we decided to meet and talk there.Tony is a deeply religious person, he's also very energetic and proud about his knives. Since Tony has only been making knives a little over two years, I can see that this young man will become one of the future premier knife makers. His grinds and file work are absolutely beautiful.
I asked Tony for some information on himself, so he emailed me the information below.
"I am a veteran of the US Army, and was called up to serve in the first desert storm. After I was honorably discharged I achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from Bethel College in St. Paul, MN. I have been married to my beautiful wife Nicole for over 10 years, and we have 3 incredible children Connor, Cameron, and Callie. I am truly blessed!
I made my first knife in April of 2005. I became a full time knifemaker right away. I didn't want to allow myself a safety net, as this would not have provided me the motivation to get better fast!! R. B. Johnson gave me a one day class on how to make liner locking folders. He also was very
kind in answering my many questions with a lot of patience.
I pattern my life after Acts 20:24 in the bible. I am a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and do my best to use all my talents in bringing glory to God."
